Brown Dash Tribute Concert – It’s Happening!

Brown Dash Tribute Concert in honour of Award Winning Kwaito Legend

The Brown Dash Tribute Concert celebrating the late Award winning Kwaito star Brown Dash. It is happening, despite fears that it would be scrapped after Mandoza’s death.

The concert initially planned to be held at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Heritage Day, September 24 but was cancelled due to the death of Kwaito star Mandoza (Mduduzi Tshabalala) – less than a week before the artist was set to perform at the event. Mandoza died on the 18th September 2016.

As friends and organisers rushed to finalise funeral and memorial arrangements for Mandoza, they promised to update fans on a new date for the concert, but fell largely silent in the weeks that followed Mandoza’s funeral.

However, rapper Brickz (Sipho Ndlovu) has confirmed that the Brown Dash Tribute Concert has been moved to later this year and to a different venue.

Taking to Instagram recently, Brickz announced that the concert will now take place on December 3 at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The concert is expected to keep much of the same line-up, including tribute performances from the late muso’s friends Zola 7, Brickz, and Mapaputsi.

Proceeds from the concert will pay for the education of Brown Dash’s children and empower aspiring township talent.

“The fundamental aim of this tribute concert is to continue the legacy that Siphiwe Mpamile (Brown Dash) had started and to enable those he has left behind to enjoy his riches,” organiser Mahlomola Kekana said in a statement in September.
