Born in a township called Umlazi on the outskirts of Durban, Nkosinathi Mfeka aka Mgarimbe started making music in late 2000.
He performed at some of Durban’s infamous parties on the beach. Mgarimbe made regular trips to Ukhozi FM asking them to help him get a record deal, although a deal never materialized it did lead to a friendship with one of Ukhozi fms top Deejays, Linda Sibiya.
In 2003, Mgarimbe knuckled down and began recording an official demo. He began working at Butter Field to surport himself and save enough money for his studio fees. That same year, he met up with Sipho Nyathela of No Doubt. Six demos later and the perseverance of one that knows his destiny, Mgarimbe met with Snothi Sithole, who introduced him to the late Jabu Sithole, he started working with Jabu in 2005, writing lyrics for him on his second offering Ubuntu and then Jabu introduced Mgarimbe to Mapaputsi, in 2006 he then started working with Mapaputsi on his latest album; called Groover More, he worked on majority of the album, writing and featured in four of the tracks.
Mgarimbe refuses to be boxed, in his music, he gives people what they want. His music is for the people. With hit tracks like ‘Sister Bethina’, ‘Iwewe’ this boy is only destined for greater things. ‘Lomhlaba Uyahlaba’ is dedicated to the memory of the late Jabu ‘Okhumhlope’ Sithole.
